Up Up, and AWAY!!

Hey there Folks At Home! Howard Galloway Jr. here. As I type this I am sitting in the terminal at LAX, having just come through the security checkpoint. All the bags are checked, nobody has been arrested (yet anyways), and now we're just waiting for the plane to come in. IN anticipation on the long (16 hour) flight, I have packed a small library in my carry on, as have several of the other students and parents. The plan is to change planes in Shanghai, and we will be getting into Beijing just as tomorrow is almost over. Wait...what? Well, there you have it. That's all for now, expect more from someone soon (provided the communists don't throw us in prison on some trumped-up charge, but how likely is that?)

goodbye and good luck

i am so proud of sierra and all the students. medals would be nice but you all are WINNERS to me. GOOD STANCES everyone, and have a great trip! since october 2004 when sierra began ive seen her grew so much in her kung-fu and in her life. i have to thank si fu tom for the opportunity he has given my daughter, sierra. all my love, mommy.

hi its sierra and i just wanted to say that I've been on and of off the computer learning everything i could about Beijing like all the shopping around town like the hongqiao market that's basically a mall with all kinds of stores inside and i also learned the exchanged rate for the money. I have also taken all virtual tours like our hotel and restaurant .I'm also a little nervous about the competition i hope I'm not the only one. I brought pokemon cards, ballpoint pens, and two dollar bills for trading with the other Chinese children.good night and tomorrow we meet at the flyaway!

High Road to Beijing 2007

August 6,

Director/Cameraman Howard Galloway - I just got back yesterday from being in Michigan three and a half weeks. So happy to see Betsy and Howdy again, standing there at baggage claim LAX, waiting to take their baggage (me) home. On the way home, The Pot Roast at Mimi's Cafe was worth every penny. Betsy gave me a tour of our remodeling including a new front door. I was so tired. Ate two of her homemade chocolate chip cookies, then fell into bed fully dressed at 6 pm and didn't wake up until 6 am. Lonon called and we began to hatch our plans for the next few days before heading out on this grab-bag adventure to China. And oh yes, we need mini-DV tapes, about 100. So I need to call my trusty contact at EVS to see what kind of a deal I can get. I'll go down there (south) to Burbank on Wed. to pick up another high def camera, some carry-on bags which will fit in the overhead compartment and anything else that I can afford at the last moment. Ironically, I also read an article today on the nightmares of having my camera and sound gear smashed to pieces, and/or stolen somewhere between check-in at customs and Beijing. NO WAY! On second thought, I'm gonna handcuff everything to me and request to ride in the baggage compartment.
